The answer is yes.........but not in Europe. The European
version of the Wizard of Oz is missing numerous scenes that
are each a few seconds long, which (when it needs to be almost
exactly in time) makes the sound appear completely out of
time with the picture.
When I first tried to sync. the two up, it appeared fine
for the first few minutes until the movie skipped a scene,
which threw the sound off by a few seconds. I noticed this
straight away, as the lyrics corresponded to scenes that had
already occurred. I had a list from the internet of things
that were supposed to match up, but as the film progressed
it just became irrelevant.
This explains why most people in Europe either don't know
about it, or just think it doesn't work - because if they
try it with a European version of the movie, (the recently
released PAL DVD of the Wizard of Oz is missing the exact
same scenes) it won't work.
I then went to eBay.com and purchased a VHS copy that already
had Dark Side of the Moon as the sound, to see if it really
worked. It did - and it's incredible. I then noticed scenes
that I had never seen before, which made the whole situation
suddenly make perfect sense.
This was one of the most amazing visual experiences ever,
and I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys Pink
Floyd and/or hallucinogenic indulgences.
